No accounts, no forms
There is nothing to sign up for. The guide has no logins, no comment boxes and no forms that send information anywhere. Reading a page is the whole of the exchange.
There is also no mailbox. The guide does not take messages, so no inbox holds anyone's correspondence. More about how the guide is put together is in About this guide and Field method.
Settings that stay in your browser
A few small choices can be made while reading:
- the neighbourhood picker, which sorts the field notes by part of the city
- the theme choice
- the limit tag, if you set one
These are remembered by your own browser on your own device. They are not sent to this site or kept on its server. Clearing this site's data in your browser settings removes them.
No advertising trackers
The pages carry no advertising trackers. Fonts and images are served from this site itself, so opening a page does not quietly call out to outside font or image services.
The one paid link
The guide has a single paid link to an advertising partner. That link first passes through a short redirect page on this site, then continues to the partner's site. The redirect only forwards the visit. It does not collect anything from you.
Once you arrive on the partner's site, its own privacy policy applies, and this guide does not see what happens there. The arrangement is described plainly on the Advertising page. Notes on limits, self-exclusion and support lines are on Play safe.
Server logs
Like any web server, the one that hosts this guide may record IP addresses when pages are requested. These logs are a normal part of keeping a website running. The guide does not use them to build profiles of readers or to link visits to people.
